An energetic hit from Orchestra Tipica Victor. I had the pleasure of playing this in the early 2000s with Alex Krebs Orchestra Tipica in Portland, and later with Max Pescheck’s Tango ensemble in Bremen. For this arrangement I’ve integrated a few ideas from each of these, but returning to the original recording (1933). Orchestra Tipica Victor is the house band of the RCA Victor recording label in Buenos Aires, drawing virtuosic musicians from the Orchestra’s under contract with the label, notably in this recording, violinist Elvino Vardaro. While the arrangement definitely has virtuosic moments, it is at its heart an energetic, rhythmic tango and music loved by dancers.
